The Dining Room

Good morning friends,

Yesterday I showed you what our living room looks like and my inspiration for it. We never had two living spaces before, so we are going to have to get a few new pieces for that room. That is not the case for a lot of other rooms in our house. Including the dining room.

Our dining room furniture is actually all from Ikea. We bought the day we moved from Kentucky to South Carolina. We already had a truck, that wasn’t full, so we made a quick stop at Ikea. We didn’t have a dining room table and chairs and we knew we were gonna need it. We bought the STORNÄS Extendable Table, eight INGOLF Chairs and two BYHOLMA Chairs for the ends. I love mixing different textures.

I do plan on giving the table a makeover. I would start off with zinc table top following the Unexpected Elegance’s tutorial:

We already have the LIATORP Glass Door Cabinet in white where I keep all of my dishes. And the Flea Market Wire Ball Bin from Land of Nod where I keep the table linens.

There are a few things I’m still not sure about in this room. I am thinking about hanging two chandeliers like this one from Overstock:

But I am also considering three pendants, probably white, like in these pictures. What would you do?

I am definitely not using a rug in this room. Our dining room table was previously on carpet and it was such a hassle cleaning up everything the kids spill (tomato sauce made me cringe)! I just want to be able to wipe spills right off without worrying about stains and just pick up a broom for the little crumbs. Simple!

I will paint the walls the same light gray from the living room called Montpelier White from Valspar.

Tomorrow we’ll go to the family room. See you there!

  1. Oi Ju,
Acho q o cinza nas paredes vai ficar lindo.
    A cristaleira , a prateleira e o armário eu adoro !!!
E a tua mesa de jantar com a combinação das cadeiras brancas com as de palha são lindas , não mexa , acho demais !!!
Tá certa de não colocar tapete embaixo da mesa , espere as crianças crescerem mais um pouco .
    Bjos
