DIY . Summer Snowball Fight

I have so much fun planning birthday parties, thinking of every single detail, designing every decoration, assembling all of the little projects and even though the list goes on and on, a beautiful looking party is not necessarily a fun party.

What really matters is that our children feel loved and celebrated in the midst of family and friends.

So don’t overlook planning little party activities that you feel your child would enjoy.

To keep up with the Owl theme of my daughter’s first birthday party, I put together a Wise Owl Corner, a Night Owl Corner and a Winter Owl Corner (you can read more about it here).

At the winter owl corner, children were invited to a snowball fight.

That’s right, a snowball fight in July!

So how did I do that? It’s very simple, the only thing you’ll need are some

Supplies

  • Women’s Tights
  • Flour

Directions

  1. Tie a knot.
  2. Scoop flour into the tights.
  3. Tie another knot.
  4. Cut.
  5. Start again.

We placed all of the snowballs inside a plastic tub. And by we I mean my husband and brother in law who I am sure could not live without me asking for everything and some every Birthday Party’s Eve. I’m not breaking that tradition anytime soon ;)

The “snowballs” can be used time and time again. It will last a very very long time.

And you don’t have to worry about kids getting hurt because they are really soft.

A snowball fight in the summer is so much fun! I still get requests for a new one every time it warms up. And with all the Frozen Birthday Parties around this one is a must!

I am linking up at Serenity NowHome Stories A to ZSavvy Southern Style and these blogs throughout the week.

  1. I just saw your idea on the Home Matters link party. This is such a GREAT idea! I’m going to do this with my grandchildren this summer.

I am trying to grow my own link party and I invite you to share this with my readers there because I think they would LOVE it! My Grandma Ideas Sharing Time link party is at http://grandmaideas.com. (Feel free to share other links, too.) It ends at midnight tonight so I encourage you to hurry over.

    All the best,
    Nina

  2. You just made me a hero!! My youngest son has been asking to have snowball fight for days. But we live in Alabama where its already 90 outside on days and we usually only get a tiny amount of snow once a year. Gotta love Frozen, huh?!? Thanks for the awesome idea!! And once they are done I’ll just hose them off because I am sure they will have flour on them.

    1. Hi Sheena, I was so happy when I read your comment! I’m so glad that I could help you with a snowball fight in Alabama. If you take any pictures don’t forget to tag me, I would love to see them!

      1. Absolutely Juliana!! I showed it to my oldest son and ever since he has been trying to get my 3 year old to ask to play in snow again. So I know it will be a summer activity for us!!

    1. hahahaha perfect for a snowball fight! I’m glad you can just throw it in the washer … we actually had a water balloon fight after that! So we were all squeaky clean ;)
