Owl Birthday Party

Owl Birthday Party | Te Amo Too

I think you have figured out by now what the theme was of Livi’s First Birthday Party after the huge hint I gave with the pictures from her nursery, right?!

Plus, there’s the fact that the post title is “an owl birthday party” so …

ding ding ding

You got it!

How clever of you ;)

One thing I love doing when celebrating first birthdays is using pieces I already have, or plan on buying, from their rooms. I knew I wanted Olivia’s First Birthday to match the color scheme in her nursery: aqua, white, grey and black. That way I wouldn’t have to buy a lot of extra decorations.

Look whooo is turning one

I absolutely love these invitations. I made each owl look a different way! A little branch attached with washi tape held on the rest of the birthday party information.

The pom poms hanging over her crib (here) are the same ones used over the buffet table. And the stuffed owl sitting on the table now sits in her room as well.

The black and white “tablecloth” is actually a shower curtain I snagged on the clearance rack at Target.

At the buffet table we served chicken tenders, sandwiches, broccoli salad, coleslaw, potato salad, baked beans, and chips. All from Walmart.

And let’s not forget the H2Owl !

I bought a few bags of assorted chips and emptied them out into these owl bags.

I also wrapped up some shipping boxes to bring height to the table.

For the dessert table, I used the same set of nesting boxes that sit on top of her dresser.

We had chocolate dipped marshmallows, yogurt covered pretzels, cookies, almond joy pieces, coconut and chocolate truffles, cupcakes and chocolate cake.

The owl cupcake turned out so cute! It is super easy to make. Although the white glaze completely melted from being outside in the heat. I just made my usual cupcake recipe with a white glaze, but you can use frosting, opened up an oreo cookie and placed it on the cupcake with three almond joy pieces: brown ones for the eyes and blue ones for the nose.

To keep up with the owl themed party I put together the Wise Owl Corner, the Night Owl Corner and the Winter Owl Corner.

At the wise owl corner people were instructed to write on a tag and hang it on the wishing tree I made with some branches, mason jars and washi tape.

I made three different tags, one said “I hope you always know …”, the other one said “I hope you learn …”, and the last one “I hope you take time to …”

The wise old owl in this wishing tree would like you to make a wish for me.

At the Night Owl Corner I staged a Thank You Booth where guests got a glow in the dark flying disc that said It Was a Hoot!

If you find yourself up like an owl at night

And want to play like it is bright daylight

You will have this frisbee from me to throw

And in the dark of night

You can watch it glow

For the picnic tables I scattered some paper clouds and added some aqua balloons filled with helium.

Meet the Birthday girl!

She would not take a picture without being able to hold something. Preferably something that wasn’t a toy, like car keys and cell phones.

In case you are wondering about the Winter Owl Corner, I invite you to come back to learn how to throw snowballs in the summer! Make sure you don’t miss it by subscribing at the top of the sidebar on your right and following along on FacebookInstagramPinterest and Etsy.

It was a completely different party than her Lemonade Stand Second Birthday Party, but I cannot decide which one I like better. I’m so glad I don’t have to!

All of the party decorations are from the Te Amo Too Shop, including invitations.

I am sharing this party at Serenity NowHome Stories A to ZSavvy Southern Style and these blogs throughout the week.
